Call for Nominations for Public Health Champion Award

The Board of Health seeks to honor and celebrate a community member or organization for their outstanding public health contributions toward prevention, promotion, and protection in Peoria County. The award will be presented during National Public Health Week in April.

“Peoria County Board of Health recognizes that public health is built on community partnerships,” said Board of Health President Michael Kennedy. “Individuals and organizations play a pivotal role in improving our community’s health and well-being, and we seek to honor their service through the Public Health Champion Awards.”

Nominees for the Public Health Champion Award should embody one of the values that the Peoria County Board of Health promotes at the Peoria City/County Health Department. Values include:

  • Trust
  • Mutual Respect
  • Commitment
  • Teamwork
  • Learning
  • Communication
  • Collaborative partnerships

Additionally, the following criteria will be used to select the recipient:

  • Supports health equity and impacts the people they serve.
  • Partners and builds on individual and community strengths and assets.
  • Collaborates and mobilizes individuals and community groups toward improved health.
  • Supports the development of community engagement and innovation.
  • Focuses on addressing social determinants of health.

Submit your nomination for a Public Health Champion Award by February 26, 2024. Applications are available on the Peoria City/County Health Department website at www.pcchd.org.
