Homeowners with a roof in need of repair in the 61605 zip code, outside the City of Peoria limits, are invited to apply for Peoria County’s 2024 Roof Replacement Program lottery. The application portal is open now at www.peoriacounty.gov/1287 and will remain open through November 30 at 5 p.m. A map of the eligible area is attached.
The Roof Replacement Program is supported by grant funds the Peoria City/County Health Department received from the Edwards Coal-Fired Plant Settlement. Peoria County Planning and Zoning is administering the program. Nine roof projects are expected to be selected, though the exact number is subject to change.
The lottery will take place November 7 at 10 a.m. in the Peoria County Clerk’s Office. Applicants may watch in person or on Peoria County’s YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@peoriacounty. Selected applicants will be notified via phone, and waitlisted applicants will be mailed a letter.
“This lottery is a strategy from the Health Department’s upcoming Social Determinants of Health Accelerator Plan,” said Christian McKinney, Community Health Programs Manager. “Social Determinants of Health are a variety of factors that influence a person’s health from the environment people are born into and live in. These are economic stability, education access and quality, health care access and quality, neighborhood and built environment, and social and community context. This program addresses neighborhood and built environment.”
