At the end of today, May 11, 2023, the National Public Health Emergency Declaration regarding SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) will expire.
COVID-19 vaccines and boosters continue to be provided free of charge by the Peoria City/County Health Department. Vaccinations are by appointment only, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. To make an appointment, please call (309) 679-6655.
While the emergency declaration has ended, the national vaccine distribution program, as well as commercially available vaccines, has not ended. As the Illinois Department of Public Health has stated, “commercialization is the transition of COVID-19 medical countermeasures, including vaccines, treatments, and test kits previously purchased by the U.S. Government, to establish pathways of procurement, distribution, and payment by both public and private payers.”
The Peoria City/County Health Department will continue to provide free COVID-19 vaccinations until further notice. The vaccination clinic currently has both Pfizer and Modern on hand.
